Hundreds of students were seen lounging on campus at Utah State University today at noon as they ate lunch, studied, socialized with friends and even took naps.
“Today’s a great day to be outside,” Amanda Jack said. “This is a busy time of year with finals coming up. It’s important to take time and enjoy days like these.”
Jack is a senior at Utah State University. She’s studying exercise science, graduating with her bachelor’s degree in May.
“My days in Logan are limited,” Jack said. “Studying on the quad on a warm spring day is such a classic Aggie tradition. I’ll miss these days.”
Other activities, like hammocking, a newly popularized trend in outdoor recreation, was also observed on campus.
“I checked the weather forecast today and saw that it was going to be warm so threw my hammock in my backpack,” Ryker Moore said. “I have a two hour break between classes so it was perfect.”
Longboards and bikes were also seen on campus today.
“Today is the first day I was able to longboard to all my classes,” said Matt Rogers. “With finals week and the stress of school and work, being able to ride around in the beautiful weather and scenery helps relieve a lot of that stress. It also saves me a lot of time from walking to class. I don’t feel as rushed getting to work either.”
On the north east corner of the Old Main Building, Kenny Fryar-Ludwig and his group of friends spent their afternoon slack-lining.
“Slack-lining is a form of meditation,” Fryar-Ludwig said. “It’s challenging physically and mentally. We do it on the quad so that we can meet new people.”
